God, I Want to Hear Your Voice

What does it truly mean to hear God's voice? In a world flooded with competing sounds -- the noise of social media, fear, culture, relationships, and our own emotions -- this message cuts through the chaos to remind us that God is always speaking. The central anchor is John 10:27, where Jesus makes a striking declaration: his sheep hear his voice, know him, and follow him. Notice he does not say they might hear -- he says they hear. That confidence is not reserved for pastors or prophets or the spiritually elite. It belongs to every believer willing to cultivate a genuine relationship with God. The deeper question this message forces us to wrestle with is not whether God is speaking, but whether we are truly listening. Through the story of young Samuel in 1 Samuel 3, we see that even a devoted servant of God can hear his voice without yet recognizing it. God had to call Samuel's name multiple times before the boy understood who was speaking. Many of us are in that same place -- God has been nudging, warning, and directing us, and we have not yet recognized that it was him. The remedy begins with relationship. Just as sheep learn the distinct voice of their shepherd through consistent closeness and familiarity, we learn to recognize God's voice by spending intentional, unhurried time with him. Prayer, worship, and immersion in Scripture are not religious obligations -- they are the very means by which we tune our spiritual ears to the frequency of heaven.
